One of the first things to consider when planning an in-person event is where it's going to take place. Venues can be expensive and hard to book, so finding the right one for your needs is important - as well as the needs of your audience.
Location
If possible, try to find a venue near your target audience. This might involve renting out space at a hotel or convention center. If your event is local, it will be easier for people to attend if they don't have to travel far — but if they do have to travel far, then make sure there are ways for them to get there easily.
Space
Venues come in all sizes and shapes — from small meeting rooms at hotels to large ballrooms at convention centers — so make sure you select one that fits your space needs. If possible, try visiting different venues ahead of time so that you can see what kind of space they offer before making a final decision.
Services
Also, consider other services you may need: food/refreshments, audio-visual equipment, WiFi/Broadband, etc.
If you yourself have attended events at any venues then you can compare them and see what suits you AND your audience.
