Doing your own podcast is a great way to show expertise in your field. Prospective audiences for your events can hear what you are all about. Podcasts will also give you more content that you can post on social media.
You have to work with what resources you have but if you can get your podcasts recorded with good quality sound that definitely helps. And if you can get your podcasts edited to sound more professional that will be even better. You should take some effort to learn the process of recording and editing yourself.
There are a number of platforms out there where you can upload your podcasts. And once you get into your flow you can think about inviting guests onto your podcasts to give your audience more value.
Be consistent about your output. So, if you plan to do podcasts weekly, monthly, etc., – stick to the schedule.
Podcasts differ from video content in that your audience does not need to have a screen in front of them to consume your content. Your audience may be doing other things while listening to your podcast at the same time. For this reason, one should try to make the voice recording sound as natural as possible.
Create an image for your podcast so that people can easily recognize it and associate it with your brand.
When recording your podcast, if you are reading from a script, word for word, this may make the podcast sound less inspiring. I prefer to have a few notes as reminders of what to say.
Also, if you start off podcasting with the intention to later on do videos, then try to practice and record your podcasts as if you are doing a video recording. Perhaps even practice your podcast by recording a video of yourself to see how you look on screen. This may prepare you better for when you start videos. With videos your body language as well as your voice needs to give your audience a genuine feel.
