The Anticipation

The Anticipation - ShareYaarNow

When it comes to attending events, like concerts and plays, a lot of the fun is in the anticipation and build-up. The process of getting ready starts long before the day of the event itself: you buy your tickets, you plan your outfits, you get together with friends to go over all of your plans for the day. It's just as much a part of the fun as the actual concert or play that you're going to see. If you're travelling far for an event, this means it's very likely that you'll be making a trip out of it—and there are plenty of ways to enjoy yourself while on your way to (or from) an event.

When thinking about life's most memorable moments and experiences, chances are a large number of them took place at events—whether it was a concert you attended, a game you watched with loved ones, or the space your office occupied. With so many controllable factors that go into creating a memorable experience, the venue is one thing that should not be overlooked.

The right venue will help you create an atmosphere that will set the tone for your event and enhance people's experience. There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing a venue, as there are many types of venues for different types of events. But if you want to know what all prospective venues have in common, it's that they should fit your needs and be able to provide you with a positive experience from start to finish.

When doing your own events, you need to build in that anticipation for your audience, before the actual event itself, to give them a better experience.

What's a good way to create anticipation for your next event? There are lots of ways, but an effective way is to tell a story. You don't have to be an accomplished writer (though it does help), but you do have to put time and effort into crafting a really compelling story about what's going on in your world. Consider a blog post or video series as well—think of it like setting up stage during a show: you want to bring everyone together in one place to get them pumped up before they ever even step into the venue.

One thing that’s always been true about attending events is that the venue is a big deal. The location can make or break a night, and it’s not something to be taken lightly. The act of going somewhere is special in itself. There’s something about making space in your life for a particular event that adds to the experience—whether it’s a concert or a meeting, or even a online call.

It used to be that your venue was the place where you would hold an event. You'd find a place that had good lighting, acoustics, and space for everyone who wanted to come. But now, venues are moving with you. Your smart devices–your laptop, phone, or tablet—are becoming the go-to place to hold meetings and events. See our earlier blog post: 'Digital Venues'.

And while we are still working out how to make these virtual places feel as vibrant and meaningful as physical locations, people are finding new and exciting ways to create engaging experiences for their audiences.
