Nowadays, as an event organizer, if you work in a team, some of your team may be working remotely. You have to manage this situation. You may have to manage a team of people who work directly with your clients, vendors and suppliers. This is a skill that is probably needed in a lot of sectors and industries today.
This is especially true if you are organizing events for overseas clients or if you have international members in your team. If this is the case, then it’s important that you learn how to manage them effectively and make sure they are always working as efficiently as possible.
There are some things you need to think about when managing a remote team:
• Communication;
• Time zone differences;
• Remote workers need to interact with other people on the team if they want to stay motivated and productive;
• Make sure they have access to the tools they need so they can do their job effectively.
Technology is there to help, but if you only communicate by text message or email this won't help build the team culture you want. Remember to do common sense stuff like:
- Make sure you have a clear communication plan in place. This means having regular meetings and setting deadlines for tasks. Also, make sure everyone knows what their role is within the team and what theirs is in terms of communication with other members of the team.
- Be available for them when needed. If there are any issues or if anyone needs help or advice, make sure they know how to contact you and that they feel comfortable doing so without feeling like they are bothering you!
- Make sure they know how important they are to the company and how much their work matters!
- If possible, encourage everyone in the team to meetup once in awhile.
We hope this will help you with your event marketing. Stay tuned for more creative event ideas!
