Do you keep your personal brand separate from your event brand or are they
inseparable from each other?
If you’re a business owner or freelancer, you are probably the face of your
business. You’re in charge of marketing, PR and social media and everything
else that goes along with building a brand. In such a case, your personal brand
and your business brand maybe indistinguishable.
But is it necessary or worthwhile to separate the two?
A personal brand is your reputation in the marketplace. It's what people
think about you and how they perceive you. A personal brand is also the sum of
all the things you do, say and write about yourself.
A business brand is a strategic identity for a business or organization -
e.g., your event brand. Businesses that have been around for a while have an
established reputation with customers based on their products and services, marketing
efforts, customer service and other factors that have contributed to their
success.
Nowadays, with more of our lives taking place online in the digital economy,
personal branding is all the rage. And, it’s easier to create a personal brand
with social media.
Is it just a case of keeping your personal online presence separate from
your business' online presence?
For example, as a startup founder, it can be useful to build a separate
personal brand from your startup's brand - so, if and when you exit your
startup, you have a brand that can be used for your next project.
