Becoming an Event Creator

Collaboration is great for brand building. But a lot brands waste money renting other people’s audiences. You pay a massive sponsorship fee, slap your logo on a banner, hand out some free samples, and hope someone remembers you. Smart brands, like Red Bull , realized this better than most. Sponsoring but also creating their own events. They’ve become a global media empire. As well as paying to be a part of someone else’s show, they also built their own event brand assets: ⚽ Football Clubs . 🏎️ Formula 1 . 🎮 Esports . 🚵‍♂️ Extreme Sports . By shifting from sponsor to event creator, they unlocked more value. Here is why this model works: 1. Control over the Ecosystem When you own the event, you control the format, the tone, the visuals, and the values. You aren’t at the mercy of another organizer’s values and interests. 2. Content Engine Smart brands don’t need to hunt for content ideas. Their events generate massive hype, UGC (user-generated content), and media assets before, d...

In the Zone ... Time Zone

If you are doing virtual events, you need to consider the time zones of your (potential) online, remote audience. When you share details of your upcoming events try to include the start and end times for various time zones e.g., EDT, GMT, IST, etc., to make it easy for remote audiences to know when to join in. If you are scheduling social media posts in advance then you will need to select a time zone from which the posts will be sent. If your business has a physical location and it is open during specific hours, then the time zone that your business operates in may make the most sense. This will help ensure that your posts have the best chance of being seen. However, if your business does not have a physical location or is open 24-hours, then you may want to choose the time zone of your largest audience or your head office. So, you need to determine where the largest part of your audience is located. Or, in which time zone is the audience you want to attract. We welcome your feed...

Talking Their Language

The use of local languages in your event marketing is a great way to attract a wider audience. We've mentioned this before. Adapting your communication to suit your (potential) audience can help you. The use of local languages can be as simple as adding a few words or phrases to your website and social media posts or using colloquial terms from the region where your event is taking place to describe the event itself or any activities associated with it. If your event is taking place in a city that has its own dialect, include both the local language and English. Encourage audience participation by asking them questions in their own language during Q&A sessions or closing speeches. Using local languages can help with: - Attracting the right audience - Creating an effective event marketing campaign - Making sure attendees get the most out of their experience Using local languages will help create a sense of community and belonging among attendees as well as give them something t...

Internal Corporate Events

Organizing internal events for your company should be given the same care and planning that you give to external events. A well-organized event can bring together employees in a memorable way, while also helping them build relationships with one another. Here are some steps to take when planning an internal corporate event: Determine the purpose of the event. Why are you having this event? What do you hope to accomplish by hosting it? It’s important to have a clear goal in mind before starting anything else so you can make sure the event is successful. Is it a team building exercise? Is it a reward for great work or an opportunity for employees from different departments to get together? Plan your budget carefully. Choose the venue. What kind of environment do you want for your event? Are there any restrictions on where you can hold it? If so, what options do you have? Do some research and find out which ve...

Become a Thought Leader Through Your Events

Ever thought of yourself as a thought leader? Plan and organize your events so that you become a thought leader in your niche and build your event brand. Make sure your events have a purpose and a consistent theme or narrative around your event brand. Provide your audience with content that gives them value and can be consumed in a way that is convenient to them. If you’re an entrepreneur or a business owner, you should consider speaking at events. It’s not enough these days to just be an expert in your niche — people want to hear the stories behind the success of your business. And they want to know what makes you tick. They want to hear about your failures, because they know that failure is often the best teacher. If you’re not speaking at events, it’s going to be harder for people to get to know who you are and what makes you unique. You should also network with others so that you can learn. People are always looking for ideas from thought leaders. --------------------...
