Having Your Own Digital Real Estate

Having Your Own Digital Real Estate - ShareYaarNow

You obviously don’t have to have your own website or app. You can post on social media and there are platforms out there that let you write blogs, send out newsletters, publish eBooks, do e-commerce, do podcasts and videos and live stream visual and/or audio events. You can obviously monetize your business through any number of pre-existing platforms.

Having your own website and/or app for your business may help. There are pros and cons to doing this.

By having your own website and app, you have your own digital real estate that has its own source of traffic from your followers and has some value. It can be a place where you first direct your followers in your calls to action.  You can track statistics for your website and app to see how, when and where your followers interact. If any of the social media platforms change their algorithms, as they do from time to time, this can impact the traffic you get to your social media pages. So, having an online platform that you control can be an advantage.

There is obviously a financial cost to developing and maintaining a website and app. If you do not know the technical aspects yourself, then you will have to spend money and time with developers and monitoring their work.
