Making the Right Connections

Making the Right Connections - ShareYaarNow

A great event is one that creates connections between people.

We know that the best way to do this is by creating an environment where people can share their stories and ideas with each other. The problem is that many events are designed as a one-way street — speakers talk, attendees listen.

But what if we flipped this around? What if you designed your events in such a way that people could share their stories and ideas with each other? Something awesome would happen: connections would be made!

Connections are the key to building community. When people connect with each other, they feel like part of something bigger than themselves. They have a sense of belonging and purpose. And when they belong, they feel happier and more productive at work.

Its not just about helping your audience meet others but helping them meet the right people that can help them in their business.

So how do you help your audience make these connections during your events?

Introduce them to each other. If you're hosting a speaker or guest, have the speaker introduce themselves to the audience and take questions. This gives everyone a chance to get to know each other better and learn about the speaker's background and interests.

Encourage networking between attendees. Plan a networking event before or after your main event if possible, such as an informal reception at which attendees can mingle over appetizers and drinks (and maybe even get some free swag).

Make introductions for people who want them. If you see someone who looks like they'd enjoy talking with someone else, introduce them! It might not work out, but it never hurts to try!

Perhaps, instead to trying to get as big an audience as you can to your events, it may be better to have a select few people attend to make it easier for them to meet everyone.
