As an individual hosting your own events to market your products or services, what resources can you leverage to get the most out of your event marketing?

Social media is the obvious resource but it's not the only thing out there to help with your events. If you use only social media marketing for your events, then you could be missing out on a whole range other marketing strategies.

Here are just a few ideas:

 - Word of mouth. Nothing beats word-of-mouth advertising. When people like you and respect you, they will tell other people about what they like and respect. It's like having a powerful salesperson working for you 24/7.

 - Publicity: this is where journalists write about your event in newspapers, magazines or online publications that reach a large audience. If you're lucky, they will publish photos and even video clips from the event as well as quotes from speakers that attendees might find interesting or educational (and maybe even entertaining).

- Your email list: you should have an opt-in list of people who want to hear from you, and who are likely to show up at your events.

- Your own digital real estate: your own website and/or app.

- Develop marketing assets such as videos, slide decks or posters that attendees can take home with them after the event.

There are many other ideas that are useful so do your research.
