If you're new to event marketing, try to develop a model or 'working prototype' for your events to get feedback on and, thereafter develop. Think about it as though you are developing a product for your audience. See what works for your audience and keep improving.
The first step is to decide what type of event you want to run. Do you want to make it educational and/or entertaining? Do you want it to be social or formal? How many people do you want to invite? Are there any other considerations that will affect how the event should be run? For example: time of year, location, budget, etc.
The best way to start is by getting a feel of the market - what do people want? What's missing? What can you offer that will be different? What kind of venue do you want/need? What kind of speakers do you want? What kind of audience can you attract?
Collect this information then plan your event. Once you have collected feedback from attendees, analyze the results carefully by comparing this data with what you expected (or hoped) would happen — such as a certain number of registrations or other key performance indicators (KPIs).
