People make a career out of being an event planner. But now with the proliferation of event (or interaction) technology, is it time to consider using event technologists to deal with all the event tech out there? When virtual/augmented reality events are more common, you may need to place more reliance not just on the event planner but on an event technologist to handle all the technology for virtual or hybrid events.
Having someone who knows the technology to help you with your event can let you concentrate on what you are saying and doing during your event. For example, if you need to use a presentation deck during your event or perhaps you are simultaneously live streaming your hybrid event from the venue. Or live streaming your video and, simultaneously, live streaming the audio only content.
Technology is improving constantly that it may not be possible for event organizers themselves to keep up with it all. ‘Event technologist’ may be a new career path opening up.
