As an event organizer, sometimes it can feel like all the best ideas have already been taken by other people!

But, creativity is a muscle that you can train. It can be difficult to get started, but once you do, you’ll find that ideas come more easily and you’ll be more creative in general.

Creativity is the ability to express yourself in a way that is novel and unexpected. It’s about being able to generate new ideas, think outside of the box and solve problems creatively.

The more you work, the better your creativity will be. Creativity is not something that happens to you, it is something you do. Creativity is an action, not a thought or idea. 

Read our earlier blog post: 'Getting Creative'. Some things to try:

— Spend time thinking about problems without trying too hard to solve them; this allows your subconscious mind to work on them while you sleep or do other things;

— Write down your ideas as soon as they pop into your head; don’t worry about how good they are at this stage;

— Be open-minded and willing to reject preconceptions; look for connections between unrelated concepts; don’t be afraid to try new things!

— Expand your comfort zone;

— Do something unrelated to what you usually do every day — whatever sparks your interest!

— Do something different - change your routine, if you can, to see if that helps your creativity.
