Events industry and professionals are important to the economy. They help other businesses meet and generate business.
It's also referred to as M.I.C.E. (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) or even the Meetings industry. The three main parts are: the events industry (including conferences, trade shows and exhibitions), the tourism industry (hotels and other accommodation) and transportation companies (train, plane or automobile).
Events generate employment opportunities in many ways, from food services and housekeeping to security and event production staff. This can include everything from event planning companies and event managers to venue owners.
They also increase local demand for goods and services by serving as an economic stimulus during their planning stages and execution phases — not just while they're taking place — generating more jobs than those directly created by an event itself.
Meetings probably give more value if they are in-person, but even online, they are one of the most effective ways to increase sales and revenue as they give direct access to customers who might not be available otherwise. They are also an excellent way to connect with your target audience through seminars, workshops and conferences on specific topics which are relevant to their needs and interests at that point in time.
The meetings industry has grown in recent decades but is now getting back on track after the pandemic. A lot of the above may be obvious but it is a crucial part of any economy and needs to be treated as such.
